Obituary

Vernon C. Sullivan Vernon Carroll Sullivan, age 70, of Fort Valley passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Golden Living-Rose Hill, Berryville from Cancer. Graveside rites will be conducted Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. from Detrick Cemetery, Fort Valley with Rev. Richard Slider officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77, Strasburg. Mr. Sullivan was born December 26, 1938 in Alexandria, a son of the late Joseph Courtney and Margaret May Sullivan. He was a retired Ford mechanic, a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77, Strasburg and attended Middletown Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two daughters, Ardith E. Liddle and husband, Steve of Keokuk, Iowa and Cristina C. Coyle of Tucson, Arizona ; two sisters, Molly Sullivan Jett of Strasburg and Patty Williams of Washington, D.C.; a special friend, Jeanie Richards of Winchester; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a sister, Courtney May Newman and a brother, John Joseph Sullivan. The family will meet at the cemetery at 12:45 P.M. on Saturday, August 1st. Memorials may be made to Middletown Presbyterian Church, 7960 Senseny Ave., Middletown, VA 22645. Stover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Strasburg is serving the Sullivan family.
