Tonya Shannon Merit

Tonya Shannon Merit of Woodstock VA passed away February 20, 2023.

A celebration of life and home going service for Shannon will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Stover Funeral Home with Pastor LA’Reese Brooks,D.D. officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Shannon was born in Charlottesville, VA on June 18, 1981, the daughter of James Edward Merit and the late Crystal Renee Grandison Merit. She was also preceded in death by her niece Hermione Elizabeth Merit.

She is survived by her father, James Edward Merit and brothers James Edward Merit, Jr., and Eddie Richard Merit, all of Roanoke. VA; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Merit of Woodstock, VA; her children, Kaneka, La’Princia , Nazaiah Merit and her fiancé, Marcus Hammond of Woodstock, VA.
