Raymond Elbon Obituary

Raymond L. Elbon, age 80, a resident of Toms Brook, VA passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at his residence.

In honoring the wishes of Mr. Elbon he will be laid to rest privately.

Mr. Elbon was born in Strasburg, VA on August 12, 1940 a son of the late Jasper William and Esther Mae Spiker Elbon.  He was a member of the Round Hill Church of the Brethren and retired from Columbia Gas where he worked 32 years as a heavy equipment operator.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son in law, Chuck Hockman; a grandson, Eric Hockman; three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Cecelia Elbon of Toms Brook, VA; his children Karen Virginia Hockman Funkhouser (Larry) of Mt. Jackson, VA, Anna Marie Shifflett (Greg) of Strasburg, VA; his grandchildren, Renee Williams (Mike), Matthew Shifflett (Katie), Colby Shifflett (Jennifer), wife of Eric Hockman, Tish,; his great-grandchildren, Cane Shifflett, Ivy Hockman, Charlee Shifflett, and Camden Shifflett; step granddaughters, Lily Ball, Mckenzie Meile; his siblings Doris Walker, Robert Elbon and Jerry Elbon all of Strasburg, VA along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Blue Ridge Hospice, Toms Brook Vol. Fire Department, Strasburg Fire Vol. Department or Strasburg Vol. Rescue.
