Obituary

Patricia Kathleen "Katy" Kehoe departed this world on June 4, 2018. Katy was born Feb. 20th, 1989 in Winchester, VA. She is preceded in death; by her grandparents, Patrick Russell "Pat" Kehoe and Sally Cox Kehoe, Ray Combs and Dottie, and her "Mema" Patsy Cameron Rutz and Boyd.

She is survived by her parents, Michael and Kathy Kehoe of Strasburg, sister Bridget Kehoe and brother-in-law Jarrod Hamm of Richmond, Fiancé Alex Diehl of Strasburg, and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her pet companion cat Chattahoochee.

Katy was a 2007 graduate of Strasburg High School where she was president of the Leo Club and student teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary school. Growing up Katy was a member of the Strasburg Swim Team, a member of Lebanon Church 4H Club where she was active in Share the Fun skits, and was a reporter for KooKoo News, a children's newspaper. She was baptized in the United Church of Christ in Fishers Hill and attended Laurel Hill Christian Church and Walnut Springs Christian Church. She worked for her aunt at the Old Mill Restaurant in Strasburg, worked at Wayside Inn and was head lifeguard at Half Moon Beach. In 2011, Katy graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BA degree and double major in Religious and Women's Studies. In 2016 Katy received a fellowship with Tricycle Gardens in Richmond Virginia, then worked for Backyard Farmers teaching inner city children to plant and grow vegetables. She loved gardening in her backyard in Richmond and at her parent's house outside Strasburg. Katy valued family traditions. She learned to cook and bake as a little girl with her mother and grandmothers. She loved going on family hikes with her father and sister. As a child she loved being outdoors, picking up frogs, climbing trees, and going on family vacations to explore national parks. She loved family reunions in West Virginia and Kentucky, vacations with her parents and sister, especially to Ireland to research the Kehoe genealogy. Family and traditions and hosting special events for friends were important aspects of Katy's warm and caring personality. Katy had so many family and friends who loved her and will miss her sense of humor, her beautiful smile and her expressive eyes. Katy was a source of strength to many of her closest friends.

A memorial service will be held on June 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Springs Christian Church.
