Olga Olivia Bodden

Olga Bodden, God’s beloved servant, peacefully journeyed home on Monday, February 15, 2021to receive His gift of eternal life and unending joy.

The daughter of Harold and Laura Kirlew, from Jamaica British West Indies, Olga was born on September 10, 1924 in Harlem, New York.  She grew up during the roaring 20’s, the eldest of three children.  Olga was educated in the State of New York and had successfully career of 30 years, working for the American Lung Association of Queens, New York.

Olga was a dedicated and loving mother of two children, Maria and Michael.  After raising them, she traveled extensively to parts of Europe, the Mediterranean, Caribbean Islands, and parts of the United States.  She was an avid reader, and excellent cook and a long-time sports enthusiast of tennis, college football and basketball, the NBA and NFL. 

Olga loved the Lord and His church.  As a member of Allen A.M.E. Church in Queens, NY, she enjoyed the blessing of fellowship and Bible study. 

She was preceded in death by a brother Aubrey Kirlew; sister Delores Lewis and beloved son, Claude Michael Bodden. 

She leaves to cherish her memory: special brother K. Phillip Brooks (Melvina) of Florida; devoted daughter Maria Jeter and son-in-law Kent Jeter of Virginia; loving grandson, Drew Jeter (Mirjam) of Tennessee; loving granddaughter Lauren Jeter (Tim Barber) of Virginia; loving daughter-in-law Renee Bodden of New York; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; loving niece Dale Wentz (Pete) of Chicago; loving niece Meaghan Redd (Ian) of Virginia and many caring and devoted extended family and friends, she was extremely fond of.  The family will gather to celebrate her life, privately. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Skyline Terrace Nursing Home for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Bodden during her time of illness.
