Nancy Lynn Miller-Purvis, age 64, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother (Maw Maw) of Strasburg, VA born November 24, 1956, passed away peacefully at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester, VA, with her three children by her side, on February 23, 2021.
A celebration of life for Mrs. Purvis will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Stover Memorial Chapel with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Nancy was born on November 24, 1956 a daughter of the late Paul Leonard and Edith Grace Smith Miller. She was the wife of the late Jacob Willard Purvis, Sr. Over the years Nancy worked countless jobs to support her children; sometimes multiple jobs at one time from Highs, Johnson’s grocery, Automotive, waitressing and most recently retiring from Ferguson Enterprise in Front Royal, VA. She was a kind soul and willing to help anyone in need; often making donations in complete anonymity. Nancy would light up a room, she was known to be the life of the party and lived by the motto “Whatever.” She used it often and it had many definitions. She loved music, dancing, floating the river, cooking, and hosting large family gatherings. She also enjoyed attending blue grass festivals with her late husband and friends. Nancy was a member of The Strasburg Moose Lodge, The Strasburg Eagles and The Shenandoah American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother Thomas “Jeff” Miller.
Survivors include her three children, Michele (Jamie), Shawn (Shannon) and Derrick (Misty) Pittington; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren along with her three brothers Wayne (Ellen), Doug (Joy) and John (Vicky) Miller.
The family asks that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
