Monica Ann Shifflett Runnels, 62, of Livingston, TX, formerly of Middletown, VA, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018. A funeral service for Monica will be held in Livingston, TX on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. A Celebration of Life with family and friends in honor Monica will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Wayside Inn, 7783 Main St., Middletown, VA. Mrs. Shifflett was born in Beaufort, SC, on March 26, 1956 a daughter of the late John Michael Shifflett, Sr. and Diane Elizabeth Watts Shifflett. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, John Michael Shifflett, Jr. Monica was an accomplished artist who was passionate about her work. Her primary vocation in life was caring for others. Monica was a devoted wife, beloved mother, and cherished sister. She lived a selfless, benevolent life, always putting others ahead of herself. Her gentle and loving ways will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Cliff Runnels of Livingston, TX, her daughter Melissa Mae Dupre and husband Matthew of Kemah, TX, and her son Jeremy Treat of Livingston, TX; her siblings Frederick "Willie" Shifflett and his wife Laura of Frederick County, VA, Melissa Cook of Shiloh, GA, April Diehl and her husband Steve of Strasburg, VA; her aunt Bonnie Collette of Front Royal, VA, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
