Mollie Ruffner Funk Carper, 88, formerly of Strasburg, VA, passed away January 28, 2025, at Russell County Hospital in Lebanon, VA.
Mollie was born January 21, 1937, in Strasburg, VA a daughter of the late Arthur E. and Dorothy “Dot” Artz Ruffner, Jr. She was a seamstress for various sewing factories throughout the Shenandoah Valley and continued sewing after her retirement doing alterations for friends and family. She found great pleasure in taking “goodie bags” to all the children at her church and calling Bingo on Monday mornings at McDonald’s. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers A. E. “Ruffie” Ruffner and John Emory Ruffner.
Survivors include her sons, Arthur “Frankie” Funk of South Boston, VA and John “Eddie” Carper (Tina) of Rosedale, VA; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
At the request of Mrs. Carper, services and burial will be held privately.
