Mollie Kathryn Bly Painter 87, a resident of Toms Brook, VA passed away Monday, November 8, 2021, at Greenfield Senior Living in Strasburg, VA.
A graveside service for Mrs. Painter will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2021, at St. Stephens Cemetery with Rev. Beverly Funkhouser officiating.
Mrs. Painter was born in Toms Brook, VA on June 23, 1934, a daughter of the late Russell Matthew Bly, Sr. and the late Eva Ella Jenkins Bly. She was a member of the Round Hill Church of the Brethren and retired from the Toms Brook Service Authority where she worked as an administrative secretary. She was a member of the Woodstock Moose, loved deviled eggs, baking pies, cooking, welcoming neighbors with a cup of coffee and talking on the phone as well. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Harry “Jimmy” Painter, Sr., November 16 would have been their 67th wedding anniversary. She is also preceded in death by a son Clydus Steven Painter and siblings V. Adelaide Coffelt, Treva M. Copp, Russell “Tuck” Bly, Jr., Beverly “Bev” Bly, and Grayson W. Bly.
Survivors include her children James H. Painter, Jr. (Jill) of Chester, VA and Judy D. Orndorff (the late Jack Orndorff) of Strasburg, VA; one grandson William “Will” Orndorff (Tori) of Strasburg, VA along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6-8 P.M.
