Obituary

Michael Francis Mayhew, of Maurertown, VA, was carried by the Angels to Heaven on March 27, 2018. Better known to those who love him as Michael Francis "Good Boy" Mayhew, he was born on January 21, 1947 to his mother, Patricia Kathrine Maier of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and his father, Anthony Le Grande Mayhew, who preceded him in death in 1987. Michael is survived by his five siblings: Eileen Mowle and husband Ed of Annapolis, MD, Anthony Le Grande Mayhew and wife Cathy of Charlotte Hall, MD, Kathleen Wallace and husband Wayne of Dana Point, CA, Patrick Mayhew of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Helene Vaughan and husband Dale of Carson, VA. Michael was married to the "Love of His Life" Misty Renee Mayhew on October 20, 1979 In College Park, MD. They were blessed with 39 years together. Michael and Misty were gifted with four children. Bryanne E Mayhew and boyfriend Craig Fisher of Bowie, MD, Kina R Eaton and wife Michele Klos of New Market, VA, Scott A Mayhew and wife Amber of Strasburg, VA, and Adam L Schauer-Mayhew and husband Bryan of Washington, DC. The family was further graced with six grandchildren. James Franklin Eaton, Sarah Francis Eaton, Margaret Eaton of New Market, VA, Noah Ryan Fisher, Dakota Madison Fisher of Bowie, MD and Ava Reid Mayhew of Strasburg, VA. Michael has left behind his two adored Dogs, Iceman and Bella. He loved them so much! A funeral service for Michael will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 in Stover Memorial Chapel with Father Michael Dobbins officiating. Michael will be laid to rest at Zion Christian Church Cemetery, Maurertown, VA. Military honors will be conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA. Pallbearers will be Harold Bischoff, Keith Brill, Jeff Whittle, Regis Arnold, Ben Stine and Brian Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Kellie Sawyer, Tommy Lambert, Craig Fisher, Jerry Klos, Ashley Sager Petrolino, Susan Plum Ritenour and Cara Matheson. The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Shenandoah County SPCA, 268 Landfill Rd, Edinburg, VA 22824 or Maur-Brook-Olive Ruritan Club, P.O. Box 162, Toms Brook, VA 22660.
