Matthew “Matty” Lichliter, 37, of Strasburg, VA passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at his residence.
A graveside service for Matty will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Winchester, VA.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear a football jersey of your choice.
Matty was born in Winchester, VA on July 25, 1986. He was a loving son, father, and friend to many. He loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, the beach, playing Xbox with his friends, and most of all spending time with his kids. He was a long-time employee of Martins before relocating to Food Lion in Strasburg, VA.
Survivors include his mother and stepdad Mary and Blas Valerio; his significant other Aimee Martin; his children Kaylie Lichliter, Shawn Lichliter, Adalynn Lichliter, and Adriana Lichliter; his siblings Harry Lichliter (Diane), Celia “Breezy” Sperry (Shawn), Aniela Valerio-Caballero (Mario Caballero-Rodriguez), Consuelo Valerio, Holly Rosenberger (Daniel “Rosebud”), Richard Anderson, Justin Anderson, and Jeff Martin; his maternal grandmother Esther Engstrom along with 20 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Harry Lichliter and an uncle William Lichliter.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Sperry, Harry Lichliter, Mario Caballero, Richard Anderson, Justin Anderson, Andy Osegueda, Alex Coon, and Keith Strosnider.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Stover Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
