Mary Jean Cole Hall, 80 of Edinburg, VA passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016. She went to her heavenly home to join her love ones that were waiting at the pearly gates to greet her with open arms to take her to see her Heavenly Father. At Mary's request her family and friends will gather for a musical memorial service that will be held on Sunday, August 7 at 2:00pm at First Church of Columbia Furnace, 19 Union Church Road, Edinburg, VA. Pastor Brian Duncan and Randy Whetzel will officiate the service. Mary was born in Washington, D.C. on January 11, 1936 a daughter of the late David C. Cole and Mildred G. Nehouse-Cole Keeney. She was the wife of the late Charles Hall whom she married on June 20, 1951. They lived in Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia before moving to Florida in the late 1970's. Mary returned to Virginia in 2004. Mary held many jobs mostly in food preparation before retiring from Host Marriott Services at Tampa Airport after serving 15 plus years. She always prepared food so it would be appealing to the eye. She enjoyed yard sales, reading, planting and caring for her plants and flowers. She collected frogs, plates and salt & pepper shakers, which she must have over 1,000 sets. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose till she became too ill to attend. She enjoyed the meals and listening to the music. She was an active and proud member of the First Church of Columbia Furnace. She loved her church family very much and they were there to support her through all of her many illnesses. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Ivy Nehouse, John and Mary Cole, a sister Annette Loy and husband, Silas, brothers David and Joseph Cole, brother in law Robert Connelly, a son Charles Eugene Hall, daughters Jo Ann Hall and Linda Hall Maskal, granddaughters Jennifer & Stephanie Maskal. Survivors include her sons Robert Hall and wife, Judy of Lakeland FL, Ralph Hall of Tampa, FL, his six children and seven grandchildren, Gary Hall and wife Twyla and their children, Faith and companion Quamaine, Matthew and wife, Paula and their children, Brantty and Adilynn of Dade City, FL. Her daughter Joyce Zirk-Baker and husband, Ron Baker of Strasburg, VA. Her caregiver and grandson Jeremy Zirk and daughter, Addisyn of Fort Valley, VA, a granddaughter Bobbie Jo Riley and children Brittnay Routhiear and daughter Laila Rose, Trey and Tyler Riley of Woodstock/Edinburg, VA. Her sister Shirley Connelly, Louise Shrader and husband, Buddy both of Mt Airy, MD. Brothers Thomas Cole and wife, Cathy of Frederick, MD, Eddie Cole of Germantown, MD, Larry Cole and wife Gail of Gaithersburg, MD. Her Best Friends Penny Murphy of N. Cape May, NJ, Christina Doyon of Cape Elizabeth, ME and Rodney Warr of Edinburg, VA all she considered part of her family. She had 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. At the request of Mary, expressions of sympathy may be in the form of memorial contributions to one of First Church of Columbia Furnace ministries, Nurture & Outreach, Music, or The Women's Fellowship.
