LOIS MAE PIEPER: OBITUARY On June 2, 2009, at age 90, Lois Mae Pieper went peacefully to eternal rest with her Savior. Lois Mae, daughter of Florence and Axel Melin, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 12, 1919. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1941with a degree in Home Economics. On August 27, 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Wilfred Robert Pieper in Stockton, CA, a devoted husband and a USAF officer. As a military wife, she guided her family through many household moves across the United States. In 1958, she and Wilfred settled in Alexandria, VA with their daughter Marcia Mae and son Steven Robert. Her dedication and cheerful nature were a positive influence on numerous students during her 22 year teaching career in Fairfax County. After 49 years in Alexandria, Lois and Wilfred moved to Westminster-Canterbury in Winchester, VA where she continued to enjoy her hobbies of quilting and needlework. In addition to her husband of 67 years and her two children, surviving family members include 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She will be loved and missed. Services will be held on September 2, 2009 at 3:00pm at Arlington National Cemetery and in lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted in the name of Lois Mae Pieper to the Humane Society of the United States.
