Lila Jean Cook, age 75, of Strasburg passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Veteran Administration Medical Center, Washington, D.C. Graveside rites will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 4th at Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg with Pastor Buster Doman officiating. Military honors will be conducted American Legion Post No. 199, Woodstock. Mrs. Cook was born October 25, 1937 in Pineville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Robert Edward and Marie Collins Speaks. She was a member of Rivermont Baptist Church, Front Royal and served in the United States Army. She was a Boy Scout leader of many years and was a member of Women Of The Moose Lodge #575, Woodstock. She was the wife of the late Ronald Gene Cook whom she married on March 16, 1956 in Maryland. Surviving are six sons; Robert T. Cook and wife, Cheryl, Randy G. Cook and wife, Cindy and Dougie L. Cook, all of Strasburg, Rufus C. Cook and wife, Verdie of Tazewell, TN, Dwight A. Cook and wife, Mary of Shelbyville, TN and Dickie L. Cook and wife, Diane of Winchester; a daughter, Katherine L. Stickley and husband, Ron of Strasburg; two sisters, Pam S. Brogan of St. Albans, WV and Karen Speaks of Dayton, TN; Sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Susie M. Cox and Ronald L. Cook,a grandson, Jeremy M. Cook and a sister Linna Hara. Pallbearers will be her family.
