Juanita Kerns Lucas, age 73, of Strasburg passed away Friday, October 8, 2010 at her home. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Edward P. Winkler officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg. Mrs. Lucas was born September 23, 1937 in Front Royal, the daughter of the late James and Susie Showers Kerns. She was a homemaker and a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, P. Buckley Moss Society, Strasburg Museum and the United Daughters of the Confederacy and former member of Strasburg Chamber of Commerce and chairperson of the Mayfest Committee. She was employed for many years at the former Vaughn Drug Store and later at Peoples Drug Store. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William David "Bill" Lucas who together owned and operated the Corner Store on A Street for a number of years. Surviving are her daughter, Deborah L. Seekford and husband, David T. Seekford of Front Royal; her granddaughter, Christi H. Heflin and husband, Raymond E. Heflin, Jr. of Front Royal; two great-granddaughters, Lauren Olivia Heflin and Madeline Brooke Heflin. Pallbearers will be Raymond E. Heflin, Jr., Ronnie Santmyers, George Wiseler, Chris West, Raymond E. Heflin, Sr. and Keith "Chewy" Keller. Honorary pallbearers will be the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Strasburg Guard SCV. The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, 177 No. Holliday St., Strasburg on Monday from 7 to 9 P.M. Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, Inc., 333 W.
