John Wesley Pangle 74, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, at Blue Ridge Hospice In-Patient Care Center, Winchester, VA after a hard-fought battle against leukemia.
A funeral service for Mr. Pangle will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Stover Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chris Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon Church Cemetery.
Mr. Pangle was born in Winchester, VA on January 23, 1947, a son of the late Herschel Carson and Martha Mae Hockman Pangle. John was a land surveyor for 50 years retiring from Greenway Engineering in 2010. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. We will all miss his delicious green beans, sweet corn, and tomatoes. John loved to laugh with friends and family and had a wonderful sense of humor. He had an infectious smile, and you couldn’t help but smile back at him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Norma Jane Hamman.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Connie Boyer Pangle; his daughter Pam Grandstaff and husband Don; his son and hunting companion Todd Pangle; his sister Sherry Lynn Yost and companion Jim and a brother Gary Pangle.
Pallbearers will be Larry Miller, Doug Cornwell, Glenny Comer, C.D. Stickley, Larry Jenkins, Chad Miller, Robbie Parks and Sam Sager. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Middletown Hunt Club.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
