John David Gleaton

John D. Gleaton, 71, of North Myrtle Beach, SC (formerly of Strasburg, VA), passed away at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC on September 21, 2025.

John loved sports.  He was an avid golfer, loved to bowl, and enjoyed coming back to Virginia to participate in the Edinburg Ole Time Festival baseball game.
In addition to his parents, Cecil and Geneva (Peggy) Gleaton, John was preceded in death by his brother Gary and his furball kitties, Thelma and Louise.

John is survived by his wife, Paula Swartz Gleaton; sister Amanda Hoffman (Robert);  brother Rickey Bowley (Tara); sisters-in-law Donna Gleaton and Adina McInturff (Gary); brother-in-law Michael Swartz; nieces Jacinda Mattson (Chad), Makayla Hoffman, and Regan Hoffman; nephews Marcus Bowley and Caleb Bowley; great nephews, Ayden Mattson, Camden Mattson, and Braxton Mattson along with numerous cousins, and a furball kitty named Oreo.

A celebration of life service for John will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg, VA with Pastor Buster Doman officiating.  Mr. Gleaton will be laid to rest privately. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
