Joan Rae Carroll

Joan Rae Carroll, 63, of Middletown, VA passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side.

Ms. Carroll was born in Winchester, VA on February 28, 1961, the daughter of Margie Wymer Carroll Clevenger and the late Raymond Osborne Carroll.  She was a bachelor graduate of Bridgewater College and went on to be a secretary for Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winchester, VA, where she retired having worked for over 20 years.  Joan loved her family very much, had a big and tender heart, a natural giving personality, took pride in seeing her loved ones succeed, always putting others before herself, had a positive attitude, made people laugh when she told her stories about the eventful moments that happened throughout her day.  Joan dreamed of swimming with dolphins, taking her family to Disney World, and was known for all the fun parties she planned.  She loved her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews like her own children. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her brother Mike Carroll. 

Survivors include her mother Margie Wymer Carroll Clevenger; one sister Terry Davis; her nieces and nephews, Tony Davis, Rayann Walker, Nathaniel Carroll, Luke Carroll, her great nieces and nephews, Pearl Davis, Violet Davis, Nathalie Carroll, CJ Carroll, Faith Walker, Caleb Walker, Benjamin Walker, Hunter Baker, Connor Baker, and Elijah Baker along with several other extended family members. 

A celebration of life for Ms. Carroll will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2024, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 26 West Boscawen Street A-201, Winchester, VA 22601 with Rev. Martha Miller Sims and Rev. Jonathan M. Boynton officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to service at the church.
