Jean C. Manuel Jean Abbott Crider Manuel, age 84, of Strasburg passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Winchester. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Strasburg Christian Church with Rev. Bob Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg. Mrs. Manuel was born April 16, 1929 in Strasburg, a daughter of the late John W. and Cora Nicholas Crider. She was a member of the Strasburg Christian Church, had been a devoted member of the choir, was Elder Emeritus and a member of the Christian Women Fellowship (CWF). She had been a poll worker and was a very proud Democrate and member of the Strasburg Museum. She was the wife of the Henry Herbert Manuel. Surviving are two sons, Henry Paige Manuel and wife, Lander B. and Stephen G. Manuel and wife, Lois A, all of Winchester; her daughter, Taralyn F. Nicholson and husband, Steve W. of Strasburg; a sister, Shirley T. Manuel of Front Royal; a brother, Gerald D. Crider of Lusby, MD; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Gerald D. Crider, Basil C. "Buddy" Hudson, II, Ryan Manuel, Jason Manuel, John Manuel, Scott Snapp, Don Rosenquest, Ray Mitchell, Collin Nicholson, Jerry Rabe and William Foster. Honorary pallbearer will be Timmy Lam. The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, 177 No. Holliday St., Strasburg on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Strasburg Christian Church, 165 High St., Strasburg, VA 22657. The family would like to offer special thanks to Ray and Lalani Mitchell for the wonderful care they gave to their mother.
