Jack Tilden Rutz, age 85 a resident of Toms Brook, VA passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA. A graveside service for Mr. Rutz will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ Cemetery, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville, PA 18041. The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg, VA on Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. He was born in Strasburg, VA on January 18, 1931 a son of the late Harry Houston Rutz, Sr. and Bertha Drummonds Rutz. He was a member of Strasburg Presbyterian Church and loved gardening. Mr. Rutz loved his family and was very close to nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mae Leh Rutz, a step-son, David Eckhardt, a grandchild, Richard Eckhardt and siblings, Jim Rutz, Lena Rutz, John Rutz, Harry "Bootie" Rutz, Jr., Robert Rutz and Claude "Cub" Rutz. Survivors include his step-son, Dana Eckhardt of Titusville, FL; grandchildren, Anita Eckhardt, Greg Eckhardt and Erin Eckhardt; several great and great-great grandchildren; his siblings, Loretta Campbell and Fred Rutz both of Strasburg, VA, Eva Ranney of Grand Rapids, MI, and Jill Riffey of PA.
