Jack Allen "Bones" Orndorff, Sr., 72, of Strasburg passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Blue Ridge Hospice In-Patient Care Center, Winchester. A funeral service for Mr. Orndorff will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Round Hill Church of the Brethren with Pastor Bruce Noffsinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery, also known as Sand Ridge. He was born in Strasburg, VA on December 27, 1941 a son of the late Philip Arthur and Maggie Mae Good Orndorff. He was a member of Round Hill Church of the Brethren in Toms Brook, and the Maur-Brook-Olive Ruritan Club. Jack worked for Avtex for a number of years and retired from Ashworth Bros. with 35 years of service. He loved his community and his grandchildren were the love of his life. He was a little league baseball coach for the Strasburg Lions team that became his undefeated champions. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jack Allen Orndorff, Jr., and a brother, Jerry B. Orndorff. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Vallie Rinker Orndorff; his son, Steven E. Orndorff and wife, Mary; daughter-in-law, Judy Painter Orndorff all of Strasburg; grandchildren, William A. Orndorff and McKenna J. Orndorff; step grandchildren, Jared Lucas, Neal Lucas, and Gina Lucas; brothers, Philip "Amos" Orndorff and wife, Pat of Strasburg, Robert Orndorff and wife, Gloria of Toms Brook; sister-in-law, Janet Orndorff of Manassas, VA. Pallbearers will be William Orndorff, Gary Orndorff, Andrew "Andy" Orndorff, Bobby Lake, Jack Colvin, and Ralph Neff. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Maur-Brook-Olive Ruritan Club,Edgar Dellinger, Gene Stokes, Howard Smith, Tommy Esteppe, and Raymond Elbon. The family will receive friends at Round Hill Church of the Brethren on Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W.
