Harold Hunter Whittington 78, of Strasburg, VA passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
A funeral service for Mr. Whittington will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church with Pastor Heidi David-Young officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery with full military honors by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77 Strasburg, VA.
Mr. Whittington was born in Zepp, VA on November 14, 1938 a son of Katie Orndorff Whittington and the late Omer Hunter Whittington. He was U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. He loved to hunt and fish and played and sang bluegrass music with several local groups. He coached little league baseball and was a former Boy Scout Leader. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Hunter Whittington and two sisters, Loretta Moore and Jean Racey.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Feathers Whittington of Strasburg, VA; one son, Hal Whittington and special friend, Cindy Bowman; three grandchildren, Joshua, Colton and Sarah Whittington; siblings, Linda Haun and husband, John of Woodstock, VA, Sandra Click and husband, Robert of New Market, VA and Jack Whittington and wife, Anna of Middletown, VA
Pallbearers will be Floyd Ryman, Deryl Tucker, Norman Racey, Grandville Dellinger, Ronnie Bowman and Dave Barden.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
