Glenna McBride Loving
Glenna McBride Loving, 84, of 81 Loving Lane, Strasburg, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
A Memorial service for Mrs. Loving will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Walnut Springs Christian Church with Rev. Wendell Schurtz officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A time of food and fellowship will follow at the church.
Glenna was born March 21, 1938, in Paradise, Texas, the daughter of the late William Jasper McBride and the late Juanita Pearl Brown. She graduated from Boyd High School. Glenna was the wife of the late Ray Rowland Loving and lived in the Strasburg and Oranda communities for most of their lives, being married for over 60 years. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister Doris McBride, sister Neta McBride Sharp, brother Bill McBride, half-sisters, Lillie Coffman, Eva Munn and half-brothers Vernon McBride, Hardy McBride and Randy Howell.
Glenna retired as a school instructional aide for Shenandoah County Schools after 32 years of service. She was an active member of the Walnut Springs Christian Church in Oranda for over 50 years where she served as an elder, choir member, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, District board president, and CWF director. She was a long-time member of the Strasburg Museum board and a volunteer at the Strasburg library. She wrote and published two children's books, Shenandoah Daughter of the Stars and White Wolf and Shenandoah. She loved reading, gardening and all kinds of arts and crafts. She also liked to travel, visiting China and most of the American West. Glenna will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.
She is survived by two sons, Monty R. Loving, wife Laura of Stephenson, and Mark F. Loving, wife Lora of Maurertown; four grandchildren: Hunter C. Loving, partner Abe Johns, Haley L. Richards, husband Jacob, Loran L. Loving and Lenzi F. Loving; step grandson Austin M. Hovermale, wife Heather and daughter Mirielle. She is also survived by Barbara McPartland, a foster daughter of North Carolina, nieces Sharon Conyers, Katerena Byars, Sharlyn Fagan, Danielle Howell, Donna Munn; nephews, Terry Simons, Larry McBride, Chad Howell, Chase Howell, Bill, Jimmy, Ronnie, Orvil and Jerry Munn; all from Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Furry Friends of Shenandoah County, Strasburg Library or Walnut Springs Christian Church.
