Gerald Ames Watkins

Gerald Ames “Gerry” Watkins, 78, of Middletown, VA passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Mr. Watkins was born in Winchester, VA on October 10, 1946, the son of the late George Albert and Wilma Orndorff Watkins. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. After working in various capacities in the electronics field, he retired from FEMA at Mount Weather after a 20-year career as an electronics technician. During retirement, Gerry enjoyed building and working on computers and caring for various stray cats over the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Kelley Dawn Watkins. He is survived by his wife Carol A. Watkins.

A visitation for Mr. Watkins will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025, followed by a funeral service at Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg, VA. Burial will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park. 

Pallbearers will be Michael Kirkpatrick, John Kirkpatrick, Paul Kirkpatrick, Matthew Bremer, Mark Bremer, and Nicholas Bremer. 

The family suggests that expression of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions, lieu of flowers, to Winchester Area ASPCA, 111 Featherbed Ln, Winchester, VA 22601.
