Obituary

George Richard "Dicky" Johnson, age 81, a resident of Toms Brook, VA passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA. A memorial Service for Mr. Johnson will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Toms Brook United Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley A. Thompson officiating. Military honors will be conducted at Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA. He was born in Maryland on April 16, 1935 a son of the late Marguerite Frances Holler Johnson. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War, a retired machinist with General Electric and a member of the Toms Brook United Methodist Church. He was the Husband of the late Juanita Kay Putman Johnson. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Johnson. Surviving are three sons, Burton Lane Johnson and wife, Brenda of Strasburg, Bryan Lee Johnson of Toms Brook and Keith Allen Johnson and wife, Melanie of Toms Brook; eight grandchildren, Sarah McKenzie and husband, Robert, Jesse Vandall and husband, Larry, Rebecca Johnson, Brittany Crabill and husband, Travis, Alyssa Johnson, Theresa Monse and husband, Wayne, Stephen Meadows and wife, Joanna and Michael Meadows; eleven great-grandchildren, Regan Crabill, Destinee Monse, Kayla Monse, Zachery Monse, Brandon Monse, Natalie Vandall, Luke Vandall, Jake Vandall, Mason Meadows, Avery Meadows and Chloe Meadows; two great-great-grandchildren, Anya Hunt and Bryson Hamman, and one sister, Shelba Funk of Woodstock, VA. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Dean, Freddy Kline, Steve Sherman, Jerry King, and Charlie Barton. The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. Friday evening.
