IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Christopher
Crossman, Jr.
September 8, 1951 – August 24, 2017
George Christopher Crossman Jr. passed away unexpectedly while away on business on August the 24th of 2017 in Columbia, Maryland at the age of 65.
George is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Erica Stanley and her husband Jon (of Richmond, VA); their children Kason, Aurelia and Mylah, Alicia Power and her husband Matt (of Apex, NC), and their son Davis; his siblings Joan Guidi (of Reading, MA), Deborah Kwiatek (of Reading, MA) , Sheila Toomey (of Kemah, TX), Mary LoPresti (of N. Kingston, RI), and Brian Crossman (of Acton, MA) and their respective families. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, George Crossman Sr. and Dorothy Crossman.
George was born on September 8, 1951 in Chelsea, MA to George and Dorothy Crossman. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic school though grade 12. He worked in Fenway Park for 8 years, running the stairs and selling souvenirs. George took particular joy in outselling his fellow co-workers. He took that ferocity for life and competition forward through his time at the University of Richmond, where he played Varsity Football and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Commerce. George made brothers-for-life his fellow teammates. His connection with his brotherhood of teammates continued until his passing. This was also true of George's love of the game of rugby. Through the years his love of the sport grew, as well as, his band of rugby brothers. He married Donna Maria Rizzo, the love of his life, on December 4, 1982. They lived in Richmond, Staunton and Strasburg, VA respectively. George worked in the Transportation Industry for over 35 years and loved the challenge of working in such a competitive industry. The couple welcomed and raised 2 beautiful children, Erica and Alicia. His children remember him as a man who was bigger than life and as their proud father who encouraged them and loved them in all of their endeavors. He was their hero.
George never met a stranger in his life and was the first to reach out a hand to help anyone in need. George loved life and living. True story.
