Gary Kenneth Lyon, Sr. age 81, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at Greenfield Senior Living in Woodstock, VA. A memorial service for Mr. Lyon will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathleen Haynes and Rev. William Erbach, Sr. officiating. Mr. Lyon was born in Washington DC on April 8, 1935 a son of the late Hiram Welford Lyon, Sr. and Ruth Lee Butcher Lyon. He retired from management after 30 years of service from what is now known as Verizon. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in the Mt. Olive community of Toms Brook, Spurmont Lodge 98 A.F. & A.M., Almas Shriners, Blue Ridge Shrine Club, Scottish Rite and the John Dove York Rite. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Hiram "Bud" Lyon, Jr. Survivors include his loving wife Barbara Golden Lyon; one son, Gary Kenneth Lyon, Jr.; a daughter, Cynthia Lee Lyon; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Natalie and Jacqueline and great-grandchildren, Blake and Karsyn. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M. with Masonic Rites given at 7:00P.M.
