Fara Lee Sylvester, age 80, of Strasburg passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.
A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Stover Memorial Chapel, Strasburg with Pastor Gary Utz officiating. Entombment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester.
Mrs. Sylvester was born December 13, 1937 in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late William Robert and Mabel Oleda Waters Jackman. She attended Happy Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Front Royal for many years, was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was the wife of the late Arvene Joseph "Blackie" Sylvester and helped her husband in their business, Stephens City TV Shop.
Surviving are her children, Terry L. Sylvester and wife, Lori A. of Strasburg and Sandy R. Law and husband, Donald of Stephens City; ten siblings, Betty Zagoric of Manassas, Delores Johns of Cleveland, OH, Wilma Moon of Luray, Arleigh Jackman of Carmichaels, PA, Dixie Headlee of Fredericktown, PA, Robert Jackman of Strasburg, Bonnie Powell of Hollywood, MD, Carol Courie, of Carmichael, PA, Shari Jetten of Winchester and Sue Fike of Waynesboro, PA; four grandchildren, April Thompson and husband, David, Jenny White and husband, John, Sara Stadler and husband, Will and Leanne Cox and husband, London; seven great-grandchildren, Abigail Thompson, Katie Thompson, Leila Sylvester-Miller, Lexee Stadler, Paisley Stadler, Henry White and Rosalie Cox.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Campbell and William Jackman.
Pallbearers will be David Thompson, Will Stadler, John White, London Cox, Micky Stump, Zef Paul Jetten and Harry Viol.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, 177 N. Holliday Street, Strasburg on Monday from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Happy Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 202 Church Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
