Eugene “Gene” Kenyon, age 98, of Star Tannery, VA passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at home.
A memorial service for Gene will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Gravel Spring Lutheran Church with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Guests attending the visitation or service are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Gene was born in Oakton, VA on April 10, 1922 a son of the late Irving and Winifred Van Horn Smith Kenyon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired brick mason. He was a life member of the Star Tannery Vol. Fire Department, and the Strasburg Vol Rescue Squad. Gene loved to dance, and play the harmonica as well as work on cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ellen DeJarnette Kenyon.
Survivors include his son, Gregg Kenyon and wife Teresa; his grandchildren, Kara Kenyon and Casey Kenyon; his great-grandchildren, Keegan Nusbaum, Riley Nusbaum, Hartlee Call; his siblings, Wendell Kenyon and Irv Kenyon along with a special friend Sue Tenenbaum.
The family ask that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Blue Ridge Hospice or Gravel Springs Lutheran Church.
