Ellsworth Stickley
Boyd Ellsworth Stickley, age 93, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his residence.
A memorial service for Mr. Stickley will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Round Hill Church of the Brethren with Pastor Beverly Funkhouser officiating.
Mr. Stickley was born in Strasburg, VA on December 2, 1927 a son of the late Boyd Blair and Ruth Adele Rickard Stickley. He was a 1940 graduate of Strasburg High School and a longtime member of the Round Hill Church of the Brethren where he played the organ for over 60 years. He served in other various areas of the church including Sunday school teacher, Youth Leader, Treasurer, and Deacon. Mr. Stickley was instrumental in the planning and construction of the current church building. A special stain glass window was placed in his honor for his dedicated service to the Round Hill Church of the Brethren. Ellsworth was a farmer in his younger years. He was the owner of Stickley’s TV and Radio Sales and Services and worked for the Shenandoah County Public Schools as a bus driver for 30 years. Many of those years were spent driving the Fort Valley route. Ellsworth loved gardening, playing the organ, writing, photography, art and painting. Ellsworth will also be remembered for his writing of the Stickley Newsletter for over 15 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Rubye Himelright Stickley; his sister Doris Baker (the late Jack Baker), Ralph D. Stickley (Gloria) all of Strasburg, VA along with numerous nieces and nephews.
