Ellen M Ramsey

Ellen M. Ramsey 98, a resident of Fort Valley, VA passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Commonwealth Senior Living at Front Royal, VA.

A funeral service for Mrs. Ramsey will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Fort Valley Church of God. Immediately following the church service there will be a time of food and fellowship. Family and friends will meet at the Massanutten Cemetery in Woodstock for an internment service at 2:00 p.m. where Mrs. Ramsey will be laid to rest with her late husband Fulton Alfred Ramsey.

The family will received friends at Stover Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. Ramsey was born in East Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of the late Francis Stuart and Lyla Pease VanFleet.  She was a member of the Fort Valley Church of God, graduate of Shephe rd University, and retired teacher with Shenandoah County Public School where she taught for 32 years.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter in law Rosa Ramsey and a brother and sister in law George and Virginia VanFleet.

Survivors include her children Dale Ramsey and wife Connie of Front Royal, Jay Ramsey and wife Louise of Fort Valley, Gary Ramsey and wife Olivia of Fort Valley, and Chris Ramsey and wife Patricia of Front Royal; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Travis Ramsey, Brad Ramsey, Mark Ramsey, Nathan Umberger, Luke Ramsey, Philip Ramsey, and Sean Ramsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Dove, Bret Funk, Jillian Lasky, Meredith Deferville, and Elisha Steed.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Fort Valley Church of God, c/o Gary Ramsey, 3245 Boyer Road, Fort Valley, VA 22652.  All proceeds will be used for the help of others.
