Elizabeth "Nookie" Ann (Taylor) Horan

Elizabeth Ann “Nookie” Taylor Horan, 88, a lifelong resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Lavender Hills of Front Royal, VA. 

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 6-8 p.m.  At the request of Nookie, she will be laid to rest privately. 
 
Nookie was born in Strasburg, VA on May 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Edward Michael and Mary Orndorff Taylor.  She was a 1953 graduate of Strasburg High School.  Nookie was the owner and operator of the Old Mill Restaurant, My Place Restaurant, and co-owner of the Ice Cream Station at Woodbine Market.  She also worked for many years at the Strasburg Moose Lodge.  She was a member of the Strasburg Christian Church.  She was a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Strasburg Women of the Moose, Front Royal V.F.W. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gus Noll Horan; a stepson Noll Horan; siblings Nina Sherman and Bobby Taylor and a sister-in-law Eunice Taylor. 

Survivors include her son Frank Taylor Horan (Dana); her granddaughter Ashley Taylor Eastlack (Steve); her great grandchild Finley Taylor Eastlack; her step grandchildren Stacy Collins (Dan), Sara Horan; her step great grandchildren Luke Collins, Olivia Collins, and Noell Horan; her siblings John “Bootsie” Taylor, June Mason (George), Mary Jane Armentrout (Lynn) along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.
