Obituary

Douglas Jacob Hockman, Sr. age 64 a resident of Strasburg passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Winchester Medical Center. A funeral service for Mr. Hockman will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Stover Memorial Chapel with Buster Doman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery. He was born in Strasburg on November 25, 1945 a son of the late Chester Mason & Catherine Romaine Hottle Hockman. He was retired from Perry Judds where he worked as a Shipping Dock worker. He was a member of the Strasburg Moose Lodge #403, and the Strasburg Eagles Erie 4186. He was a member of the Lebanon Lutheran Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Dwight Hockman; a nephew, Richard "Chuck" Hockman; sister-in-law, Mildred "Sissy" Hockman, and a brother-in-law, Edwin "Ned" Laing Survivors include his son, Douglas Jacob "DJ" Hockman and Fiancé Tiffany Akers of Strasburg; step-children, Anne Marie Tevault and husband Glen of Toms Brook, and Wendy Colvin of Maurertown; three sisters, Sue Laing of Front Royal, Sally Hockman of Strasburg, and Martha Rennie and husband, Johnnie of Strasburg; two brothers, Dan Hockman of Strasburg, and Warren Hockman, Sr. and wife, Diane of Strasburg; grandchildren, Wyatt Hockman, Tobey Bell, Devin Bell, Thad & Barb Hodson, and Butch Hodson; nieces and nephews, Gail and Dennis Simmons, Dianne and Gary Little, Carolyn and Ronnie Roller, Marshall and Beth Rennie, Anthony Hockman, Scott Hockman and Fiancé Carrie, Warren Hockman and Beth, Eric and Anya Hockman, Renee Hockman and Fiancé Mike; numerous cousins Pallbearers will be Steve Wymer, Greg Orndorff, Phil Stickley, Bill Schwartzbeck, , Ronnie Roller, Terry Ballowe, Farrell Lichliter, and Carl Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Stickley, Allen Santmyers, Jimmy Arnold, Cherryl Gnegy & family, Members of the Strasburg Moose Lodge # 403, Strasburg Eagle Erie 4186, and the Hi-Neighbor Breakfast Club. The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6-8 P.M.
