Donald "Donnie" Vance Obituary

Donald Hopewell “Donnie” Vance 84 of Lebanon Church, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2022, at his home.

A funeral service for Mr. Vance will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Warren officiating.  Mr. Vance will be laid to rest in Panorama Memorial Garden. 

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Vance was born in Strasburg, VA on April 27, 1938, a son of the late Lewis Walter and Florence Virginia Strosnider Vance, Sr.  He attended Strasburg High School, worked as a pressman assistant with the Northern Virginia Daily and was a self-employed brick layer.  He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, the NRA, and the Spurmont Masonic Lodge No. 98 AF & AM.  Donnie enjoyed hunting, target shooting, music, and his grandchildren.  He and his wife Barbara were the owners of the DonBar Photography Studio.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Dustin Keffer, siblings Walter Vance, Jr., Sue Cornwell, Eva Elbon, Roy Vance, and Betty Middleton.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Barbara Hammock Vance; his children Bridget Keffer (Mike), Sharon Reid (Curtis), Aaron Vance (Kim), and Susan Scott (Jeff); his grandchildren Ashley Showalter (Frank), Vivi Villarreal (Victor), Nathan Reid (Stacy), Stephanie Hopkins (Brian), Jacob Vance (Brittany), Jillian Vance, Brandon Spaid (Brittny), Zachary Scott, and Grant Scott, and; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Paige (Howard), and David “Duke” Vance (Joan) along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Pallbearers will be Greg Middleton, Tim Middleton, Dean Elbon, Toby Pence, Glen Matthews, and Glen Tevault.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
