Dennis "Denny" Wymer, Sr. Obituary

Dennis “Denny” William Wymer, Sr. - devoted husband, father of two, and friend to many -
passed away unexpectedly and was called to his heavenly home on Dec. 30, 2022. He resided in
Middletown, VA. He was only 66 and was surrounded by family when he passed.

A graveside service for Denny will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown, VA. Denny will be laid to rest alongside family with military honors conducted by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77 Strasburg, VA.  Afterwards, he will ride his bike in heaven, forever free, until he is to be rejoined with his beloved family.

Denny was born on Nov. 21, 1956, in Winchester, VA to Erma Jean Lancaster. He attended James Wood High School in Winchester, excelling in baseball and football, before following a love of planes into the U.S. Air Force where he would become a weapons systems control mechanic. Wherever life took him, Denny would spend his career working on machines and motorcycles, but he wasn’t above doing whatever job he could to take care of his family.  He always said that he was most at peace when he was working on or riding motorcycles, his lifelong passion. He was currently an industrial maintenance mechanic at Intelligrated Systems, LLC. and was also a proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, both in Winchester, VA.  Denny was a simple, warm, and kind man, raised in tough circumstances, but thanks to the kindness of his mother he chose to spread love and devotion however possible and always wore his heart on his sleeve. He thought of his family and friends first, was always loyal and generous
with his time even when he had something to lose. He constantly rode his bike hard, winning the admiration of his friends and mates. Denny was always ready with a silly joke and relished making people laugh. He supported his sons in whatever they did, preached freedom and independence while also reminding them that he would always be there when they needed him. He was a fierce fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Black Hawks and Minnesota Vikings.  In addition, Denny was a proud starting defensive end of his USAF base’s football team, the 2nd best defense in all of Europe when he played. He was someone that people loved within minutes of meeting him but was someone simply happy to be of service to anyone.

Denny is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 47 years Janet; two sons, Dennis, Jr., and Daniel Jacob “Jake”; The apple of his eye, his grandson Morgon; His doting mother, Erma; his three younger brothers, Michael, Kelly, and Glenn; And a gorgeous 1948 Harley Davidson panhead, lovingly built with his own two hands.

Memorials may be made in memory of Denny to the Middletown Fire Department, P.O. Box 111, Middletown, VA 22645.
