Dennis Simmons

Dennis Mitchell Simmons, 74, of Strasburg, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at his home in Strasburg, VA. 

Dennis was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend, and was described by many as the life of the party. He was happily married to his loving wife and high school sweetheart Susan Gail Simmons for 47 years. He worked as a HVAC controls technician at Central Intelligence Agency for 34 years before retiring to spend his time going to flea markets and car shows in his 72’ Chevelle and Corvette. He was an avid collector of coins, clocks, and antique music boxes.

Survivors include his wife Susan Gail Simmons; his sons Jason Ryan Simmons, Adam Kyle Simmons and wife Laura Elizabeth Simmons; his grandchildren Claire Elizabeth Simmons and Cole Mitchell Simmons; his sister Shelia Himelright; his brother Eddie Simmons; numerous nieces and nephews; and surviving members of Strasburg High School class of 1970. 

A funeral service for Mr. Simmons will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at Stover Funeral Home with Rev. Buster Doman officiating. Mr. Simmons will be laid to rest at St. Stephen Lutheran Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
