David Stewart Lehr, age 78, a resident of Winchester, VA passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. A funeral service for Mr. Lehr will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Stover Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Middletown, VA with full military honors conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA. He was born in Herndon, VA on June 6, 1937 a son of the late Charles John and Thelma Haines Lehr. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran having served 16 years of which included three tours in Vietnam and then served with the West Virginia Air National Guard for 11 years. He was a member of the Winchester Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Conrad Hoover American Legion Post 21 of Winchester, VA, Winchester Moose Lodge 1238, and the Veteran's of Foreign War. He loved motorcycling and enjoyed his hobby of bee keeping. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Rita A. Lehr; siblings, Delores Carmen, Jackie Wagoner, and Tony Lehr. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Brannon Lehr of Winchester, VA; his children, Dan Lehr of CA, Cindy Victor and husband Manuel of OR, Chris Lehr, Lori Armstrong, and John Lehr and wife, Margaret all of California; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Lehr, Dianne Lehr, Charlie Taylor all of Maryland and Patricia Whitacre of Winchester, VA. Pallbearers will be Dana Gagnier, Matt Shiffler, Jack Funkhouser, Jr., John Lehr, Dan Lehr, and Doug Whitacre. The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday evening.
