Clifton William Wilson

Clifton William Wilson, 91, of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. 

A graveside service for Mr. Wilson will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Riverview Cemetery.  

Clifton was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 17, 1931, a son of the late Harry William and Catherine Virginia Fogle Wilson.  Mr. Wilson served in the National Guard and was a member of the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA.  He retired from Genstar in Middletown, VA where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.  He then worked as a ground keeper for Sly Fox Golf Course.  Mr. Wilson was a former Governor of the Strasburg Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing, watching racing, the Redskins, the Strasburg Rams and spending time with his grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Gretchun King and a sister Julia Ritenour. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Betty Mae Jenkins Wilson; his children Sharon Funk, Gary W. Wilson, Cathy Dinkle, Gene Wilson, and Chanda Wilkins along with a granddaughter whom they raised as their own, Stacey Raymer Knight; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; one brother Melvin Wilson along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
