Carol Sue (Vandevere) Boyer

Carol Sue Vandevere Boyer 78 of Fort Valley, VA passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal, VA. 

A funeral service for Mrs. Boyer will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 21,  2022, at Stover Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Wood officiating.  Mrs. Boyer will be laid to rest privately at Panorama Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to the service. 

Carol was born in Yazoo, Mississippi on August 11, 1943, a daughter of the late Albert Monroe and Clara Jewell Marsales Vandevere, II.  She was a Home Economics master’s degree graduate of Delta State University and worked as an agent with the Mississippi State Extension Services in Franklin County.  She was a member of the Fort Valley Church of God in Christ Jesus, served as the state and local Chairperson of the Virginia Farm Bureau Woman’s Committee, and was a 4-H leader in Shenandoah County, VA.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Allen Boyer.

Survivors include her siblings Phillip Monroe Vandevere, Albert Monroe Vandevere, III, Robert Marsales Vandevere all of Yazoo, MS and Linda Claire Vandevere Sowell of Canton, MS; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a great-great nephew.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Coverstone, Gary Ramsey, Jay Ramsey, Gene Hamman, Vandy Sowell, Jerry Sowell, and Taylor Williams. 

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Shenandoah County 4-H, Farm Bureau-Agriculture in the Classroom, the Fort Valley Church of God in Christ Jesus, or Dry Run Christian Church.
