Bruce Young Himelright, Jr., of Strasburg, Virginia died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Bruce was born on October 28, 1940 in Winchester, Virginia, son the late Bruce Young Himelright, Sr. and Katie Richards Inskip.

He was a graduate of Strasburg High School. After school he served in the United States Army as an MP stationed in Germany. Upon returning he worked as a skilled carpenter for B.E. McDaniel Co., Inc. and the John R. Morrison Company. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and hiking on the mountain. He was a member of the Rocky Hollow Hunt Club. He was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed collecting old bottles and coins. He was a member of the Moose Club, the American Legion and the Humane Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Kelly Nemzek and Kristy Walker (Glenn) all of Winchester; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; longtime companion, Sandy Brown and her children, Robert Brown, Jr. (Shirley); Kelly Brown and Sabra Bauserman (Bryan) all of Strasburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his brother, Johnny Himelright (Linda) and sister, Ginnie Finfrock (Ed) as well as his beloved aunt, Elinor Himelright.

He is preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth Himelright, Max Himelright and sister, Liz Kleese.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 9th from 6-8 p.m. at Stover's Funeral Home in Strasburg, Virginia. A memorial service officiated by Reverend David Howard will be held on Wednesday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Gravel Springs Lutheran Church, Star Tannery, Virginia. Interment will follow in the Gravel Springs Cemetery with military honors by Shenandoah American Legion, Post 77, Strasburg. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Rocky Hollow Hunt Club.
