Brittney Diana Fortney, 35, of Hagerstown, MD passed away Friday, December 5, 2025, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD. 

Brittney was born in Fairfax, VA on June 13, 1990, the daughter of Cynthia Diana McQuain Fortney and the late Albert Dencil Fortney.  She went to Hylton High School in Woodbridge, VA and was a volunteer advocate for animal rescue.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother Adam Fortney and her favorite dog Katana.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her boyfriend Michael Williams; two god children Trevon and King Williams; her siblings Aaron, Ryan and Leah Fortney; a nephew Austin; her stepmom Tena; several aunts, uncles, cousins along with her four dogs and her "Stinkin Lincoln". 

A funeral service for Brittney will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Stover Funeral Home, with Joey Bott officiating.  Brittney will be laid to rest privately.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. 

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to an animal rescue in memory of Brittney.
