Brenda Kaye (Ritenour) Senseney

Brenda Senseney of Strasburg, VA returned home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.  Brenda was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and community servant.  She was 72 years young.  

A funeral service for Brenda will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. John Haynes, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  Immediately following the burial, the family will gather at the Strasburg Community Center beside Queen Street Diner for a time of food and fellowship.  

Brenda was born Brenda Kaye Ritenour on July 27, 1950, in Winchester, Virginia a daughter of the late Julia Virginia Wilson Ritenour and Wilbur Curtis Ritenour. 

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Stuart Dutton Senseney; her daughter Kristen Senseney DuBose and husband Troy Southard; her two sisters, Sheila Ritenour and Monica Ritenour; three grandchildren, Cameron Senseney, Tyler DuBose, and Kayla DuBose; one great granddaughter, Dakota Swanson; one niece, Justina Long Rutherford; two great nephews, Justin Zachary Rutherford, and Jamie Rutherford along with numerous cousins. 

Brenda worked as a beautician in Winchester and Front Royal, Virginia.  She worked in the cafeteria and was a custodian at Signal Knob Middle School and Strasburg High School.  She was a custodian at Strasburg United Methodist Church for 20 plus years prior to retiring.  

Brenda was a pillar of the community who loved helping others in need.  She was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church.  She loved contributing gifts for the needy and supporting our troops.  She was also a member of the Strasburg Moose Lodge 403.  Brenda was a breast cancer survivor and enjoyed participating in the Relay For Life.  She received numerous medals for her yearly participation in the activities. 

Brenda loved her family more than anything, and always made sure to take care of them.  She was well known in her neighborhood for decorating the house for every holiday and season.  Halloween was her favorite and everyone would stop to see the decorations.  Brenda loved flowers and grew numerous varieties of roses in her gardens.  She enjoyed yard sales, shopping and caring for her beloved pets.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.  Her smiling face and sense of humor is going to be greatly missed.  She was a treasure to all that knew her.  

Pallbearers will be Zachary Rutherford, Jamie Rutherford, Cameron Senseney, Tyler DuBose, Troy Southard, and Sean DuBose.
