Betty Harmon (Harmon) Wakeman

Betty Harmon Wakeman, 83, of Maurertown, VA passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center, Winchester, VA. 

Mrs. Wakeman was born in Brandywine, WV, a daughter of the late Grover H. and Anna Belle Hoover Harmon.  Betty was a faithful and dedicated member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities over the years.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who had a true servant’s heart.  Betty was a strong supporter of the Pregnancy Center and Response program.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters Norma Dano, Joyce Weeks, and Sue Walker. 

Betty is survived by her loving husband Robert Franklin “Bob” Wakeman; her daughter Gwenna Wakeman Knonenborg (Matt); her grandchildren Matt R. Knonenborg (JillAnn), and Emily E. Knonenborg (Brian Sandy); her great-grandchildren Sophia Lynn Knonenborg and Maggie Lorae Knonenborg; her two sisters Gloria Campbell (Tommy) and Kathy Denton (Terry); one brother Floyd Propst (Ruth Ann); her caregivers Suzie, Amber, and Susie along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A graveside service for Mrs. Wakeman will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2024, at Wakeman Grove Cemetery.
