Betty Lou (Doman) Oates

Betty Lou Doman Oates, 81, of Strasburg, VA passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center, Winchester. VA.

Betty was born on April 8, 1942, in the house where she lived most of her life in the Wheatfield community of Shenandoah County, VA.  She was a daughter of the late Robert Harrison and Maggie Georgia Combs Doman.  Above all, Betty loved God, her savior Jesus, and her church family at Columbia Furnace Church.  A special thank you to Betty’s nephew, Joe Doman, who has done so much to care for her.

In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by a son Mark Oates, and siblings: Matthew Doman, Wayne Doman, Fannie Doman, Barbara Luckett, and Bobby Doman.

She is survived by two sons James Oates and Robert Oates; three grandchildren Jason Frederick, Robert Oates II, and Riley Oates; her siblings Doug Doman, Janet Tharpe, and Dottie Burkholder along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service for Betty will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1634 N. River Rd, Baker, WV.  A celebration of life service for Betty will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Columbia Furnace Church in Woodstock, VA.
