Barry Bockey

Barry Leigh Bockey 65 of Strasburg, VA passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at his residence. 

A funeral service for Barry will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Stover Memorial Chapel.  Barry will be laid to rest with full military honors at Riverview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday one hour prior to the service at Stover Funeral Home.

Barry was born on November 16, 1957 in Winchester, VA a son of Rosie Olga Gabrie Bockey and the late Jimmy Hopewell Bockey.  He was a 1976 graduate of Strasburg High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  Barry was of the Methodist faith, worked at Stuart M. Perry and retired from Federal Mogul. Barry spent three years in Poland where he worked as a U.S. Diplomat.  He was well known throughout the Strasburg community. Barry was known for having the shiniest and cleanest vehicles in Strasburg.  During his teenage years he had a passion for muscle cars and often drag raced off Fishers Hill.  Barry had pride in maintaining his home and yard in immaculate and pristine condition.  He loved having a well-manicured yard and enjoyed chatting with those who drove by and stopped to compliment him on the beauty of his home and yard.  Barry enjoyed mushrooming, hunting and playing Wii golf.

Survivors include his wife Sue Bockey of Strasburg, VA; his children Brandon Christopher Bockey (Erin) and Danielle A. Bockey all of Strasburg, VA; his grandchildren Haiden, Levi and a step granddaughter Olivia; his siblings Brenda Lee Smith (Pat) and Brad Bockey (Donna) along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Pallbearers will be Wayne Bly, Sean Cadden, Brian Bromley, Billy Bauserman, Greg Orndorff, and Gary Wood.
