Barbara Ellen (Griffey) Racey

Barbara Ellen Racey, 85, of Strasburg, VA passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, at Woodstock Valley Health & Rehab.

Barbara was born in Shenandoah County, VA on March 13, 1940, a daughter of the late Boyd Clifton and Nancy Francis Smith Griffey.  After retiring from Safeway grocery store she moved back home to Strasburg, VA.  She was a 1958 graduate of Strasburg High School and loved spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Mitchell Racey, Sr.; three sons Thomas Mitchell Racey, Jr., Jeffrey Stuart Racey, and Gregory Scott Racey; her grandson Travis Hockman along with siblings Nancy Ann Hines and Aubrey Allen Griffey.

Survivors include her two sons, Michael Racey (Jennifer) and Richard Racey; her grandchildren Veronica, Austin, Erin, Brooklynn, Caylee and Michael Jr.; her two daughters in laws Delia Payne and Elinor Racey along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted family members.

Service arrangements for Mrs. Racey are pending at this time.  

The family asks that memorials be made to Stover Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.
