Annette L (Nelson) Bennett

Annette L. Bennett, age 89, a resident of Woodstock, VA passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at her home in Woodstock, VA.

At the request of Anne, there will be no services held. It was her wish to have her ashes scattered in the California Redwoods at a later date.

Anne was born in Cuba City, Wisconsin on July 29, 1931 a daughter of the late Robert and Esther Nelson.  In May 1952, Anne married David Bennett in Madison, WI. They had two children Laura and Brian.  In 1963, the family left Wisconsin and moved to Virginia.  In 2003, Anne and Dave left northern Virginia and moved to Woodstock, Virginia. While in Woodstock, Anne was active in many community activities including volunteering at the Clothes Closet, the Woodstock library, being a docent at the Woodstock museum, and other activities involved in beautifying the town of Woodstock.  Family was everything to Anne.

In addition to her parents Anne was preceded in death by a brother Charles Nelson, sister Barbara Roloff and brother David Nelson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years David, her daughter Laura Gott (Joe) of Clifton, VA and her son Brian Bennett (Betsy) also of Clifton, VA. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whom she treasured. Anne never met a dog she didn’t love or tried to spoil especially Bruin, Dusty and Salsa. 

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Woodstock  Fire Department, P.O. Box 176, Woodstock, VA 22664.
