Anne Christine Repaske (1926-2021)
Anne Christine Repaske (nee Colm) was born in Berlin, Germany, on February 15, 1926 and passed away on July 5, 2021. She arrived in the United States in New York in August 1933 and lived there and outside of Washington, DC as a child. She spent many summers in Belmont, Vermont, where she raised goats and chickens with her sister, Stine. She attended college at Cornell University studying Bacteriology. She earned her M.S. in Bacteriology at the University of Michigan where she met and married Roy Repaske. She raised three children and then went back to the laboratory at the National Institutes of Health followed by becoming Senior Microbiologist at the American Type Culture Collection from 1975 to 1992. She and Roy purchased property in Star Tannery, VA, in 1977 and spent weekends and summer vacations restoring the cabin. They built a house and retired in 1993 to a new career as Cashmere goat breeders. With time, many of the Cashmere goats on the East Coast of the US came from their Stoneycrest Farm. She enjoyed canoeing, gardening and once again raising chickens.
She was an officer of the Eastern Cashmere Association and an active member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, the Cedar Creek Women’s Group, and the Star Tannery Lady’s Auxiliary. She and Roy were musicians in the Capriole Recorder Ensemble at Shenandoah University and performed at local churches and retirement homes.
Anne was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Roy, and her brothers Peter and Claus. She is survived by her sister, Stine Levy of Indiana, and children David and Lisa Repaske of Virginia, William and Debbie Repaske of Louisiana, and Carol and Wayne Sandberg of Maryland. She has 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
A graveside service for Mrs. Repaske will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Gravel Springs Cemetery in Star Tannery, VA with Reverend Kathleen Murray of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Woodstock, VA, officiating the service.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contribution to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 122 E. Court Street, Woodstock, VA 22664.
