Sonja Kent Rader Schowen 83, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Winchester Medical Center.

Services and burial for Mrs. Schowen will be conducted privately with her family.

Sonja was born in Charleston, WV on January 17, 1938, a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Landacre Rader.  Mrs. Schowen was a retired Registered Nurse, loved baking, cooking, painting, poetry, shopping, and reading her bible.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Clendenin Schowen, Sr.

Survivors include her beloved children Patricia Ruth Ward of Belton, TX, Sabrina Mae Hevener of Dayton, VA, Michelle Marie Drummond of Strasburg, VA, and William Clendenin Schowen, Jr. and wife Kathy Ann of Front Royal, VA; her grandchildren Valerie, Chad (Bridget), Rebecca, Stacey (Anthony), Emily (Wes), Cory, Lisa, and Scottie (Haley); her great-grandchildren Hunter, Quinton, Tony, Isaiah, Lydia, Nolan, Abigail, Thea, and Eleanor; her sister Janet Hill of Charleston, WV.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
