Shirley Ann Snarr Wymer, 85, of Strasburg, VA passed away Monday, July 27, 2026 at Cambridge Landing in Strasburg, VA.

A lifetime of love gave her many names. Whether you knew her as Shirley, Hun, Mom, Meme, or Mammaw, each name carried its own memories and reflected the love she gave so freely.

Shirley Ann (Snarr) Wymer, 85, of Strasburg, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on July 27, 2026, at Cambridge Landing Memory Care, where she received loving and compassionate care during the past 11 months. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love of her family, dear friends, and the compassionate caregivers who had become like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine (Kline) Snarr and Leonard Snarr.

Born in Woodstock, Virginia, and raised in Strasburg, Shirley graduated from Strasburg High School before serving as a floor secretary at Winchester Memorial Hospital. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Danny, they began their married life and started their family in Stuttgart, Germany, during his Army service, forming lifelong friendships with fellow military families.

After returning to Virginia, Shirley and Danny raised their family and built a life centered on faith, family, and service. She later worked at Perry Judd’s for more than 27 years before retiring to devote herself to caring for her first grandchild, a role she treasured beyond measure. Years later, she was blessed with the opportunity to care for her granddaughter as well, creating cherished memories and a special bond they both treasured.

Shirley faithfully served her church in countless ways, including the hospitality ministry, nursery, altar guild, and wherever an extra pair of hands was needed. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, participated in Relay for Life, and enjoyed the friendships she shared through the Red Hat Society and her Bunco group.

Shirley took immense pride in her children and grandchildren and was always one of their biggest supporters, whether cheering from the sidelines, celebrating their accomplishments, or simply spending time together. She also found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She never passed up a chance to enjoy dessert, loved traveling with Danny, her family, and friends throughout the United States and abroad, and treasured every opportunity to gather with family and friends, creating memories that brought her the greatest happiness.

She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband, Danny Wymer, with whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this December; her daughters, Pam Chimento (Mike) of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and Holly Rusher (Tracy) of Strasburg, Virginia; five treasured grandchildren: Colin “Mike” Chimento (Elham) of Switzerland, Matthew Chimento of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Kyli Rusher of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bryton Kirby (Brandon) of Chicago, Illinois, and Tinleigh Rusher of Arlington, Virginia; three great-grandchildren; her brother, Leonard “Buddy” Snarr Jr. (Flo); her sister-in-law, Linda Lundy (Nolan); her brothers-in-law, Ike Himelright, Charles Himelright, and Mike Himelright; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg.

A funeral service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church in Strasburg, with Pastor Flohr officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to return to St Paul Lutheran Church immediately following the burial for a meal and a time of fellowship as we gather to celebrate Shirley’s life.
